Summer afternoon

The beds are all made, the rooms refreshed, and the warm afternoon wind is just starting to make opening the windows a viable option. I'm contemplating tonight's cookie plate (lavendar shortbread, I think) and trying to decide what it is that I want to do with my studio. Beginning to begin. The usual stuff.

We've had some lovely guests the last few days. A family of four with two quiet daughters from Paris; a couple from Italy via Chino, CA; a couple from Maryland who work with horses and Gortex; retired Air of America employees - lots of very nice people with diverse backgrounds and an appreciation for all we do for them. It would be hard to hate this job on weeks like this.

Anna is getting ready to go on a big trip to see a friend and the other girls are breaking in our newest member -a little kitten without a name. He'll live outside (fear not allergy sufferers) and hopefully keep the garage a little more mouse free. He's sweet, but very fearful...abused at some point. I'll try to take some endearing pictures later this week.

Every once in awhile we can feel winter coming...the summer is flying by.
